THE STORY BEHIND
THE STYK
Long before BudyStyk became a survival tool built for adventure, it started with a simple piece of oak, a good friend, and an idea Sean never forgot.
In the spring of 1994, Sean discovered discarded oak spindles during a Burger King renovation. Where others saw scraps headed for the trash, Sean saw possibility.
With the help of his coworker and friend Mike Bowens, Sean saved those pieces of oak, not knowing that small moment would become a memory he would carry for decades.
In 1997, Mike tragically lost his life while working his delivery route, leaving behind four young children and a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
More than 30 years later, Sean still has one of those original spindles, a reminder of friendship, resilience, and the idea that something overlooked can become something extraordinary.
Today, that same spirit lives on through BudyStyk, a veteran-made survival tool built for adventure, preparedness, and the journey ahead.
